US : Pakistan To Sign Nuke Treaty

Souce: The Star
              February 3, 1999

Islamabad (Pakistan) - A senior US official said Washington already has a committment from Pakistan that it will sign the global test ban treaty, a promise Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave US President Bill Clinton last December. India has reportedly given a similar committment and is likely to sign the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, possibly by mid-1999.

India and Pakistan, both long fueding neighbours, declared themselves nuclear powers last May by each conducting underground nuclear tests. Both are believed to have missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons that can hit most major cities on the Asian sub-continent.
