Advocacy Training Workshop on the Dangers of Electronic Cigarettes using the VIPP Technique, Ministry of Education Malaysia

On 29 April 2025, a training workshop on the dangers of electronic cigarettes (vape) was held using the VIPP technique (Visualization in Participatory Program) by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The participants consisted of Assistant Directors from the Drug Education and Prevention Unit (PPDA) of the State Education Departments across the country.
The aim of this workshop was to provide knowledge and updated information related to vape, including the inclusion of illicit substances in vape products—a rising concern in recent times.
Additionally, the workshop served to train participants in the use of the VIPP method to carry out advocacy and intervention programs with Master Trainers in schools (counsellors/disciplinary teachers). This technique emphasizes the use of visual elements and the active participation of attendees in any workshop conducted.
It is hoped that all participants will be able to apply the knowledge and techniques gained during the session in real-world settings, with the goal of curbing or at least reducing the widespread use of vape products in schools today.
