Dr. Nur Azzalia Kamaruzaman is the Director, academic, and researcher at the National Poison Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia. With a multidisciplinary background in Biotechnology (Drug Design and Development), Molecular Biology (Cancer), and Genotoxicity, her expertise further extends  into Toxicology, Public Health, and Epidemiology. Principal Researcher | Environmental Toxicology & Tobacco Control Specialist

Ts. Dr. Ahmad Shalihin Mohd Samin is an expert in Environmental Toxicology, Occupational Health, and Tobacco Control Research, with over 18 years of multidisciplinary research experience. He focuses on chemical exposure assessment, health risk evaluation, and evidence-based policy development.

He has played a significant role in local and international tobacco control initiatives, particularly through his 13-year involvement in the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation (ITC) Project, which shaped tobacco control policies in Malaysia and the region. His research on indoor air quality (IAQ) and particulate matter (PM2.5) has strengthened the understanding of secondhand smoke exposure in workplaces and public spaces.

Beyond research, Ts. Dr. Ahmad Shalihin actively advocates for smoke-free environments and public health policy reform, contributing to national campaigns and policy dialogues aimed at reducing tobacco-related harm.

He has led projects on dioxin exposure among Malaysian firefighters and serves as Principal Investigator for a World Health Organisation (WHO WPRO)-funded study on vaping products in Malaysia. His research portfolio, valued at over RM 3 million, includes collaborations with international organisations, government agencies, and NGOs.

Ms. Noor Afiza Abdul Rani is a research officer at the National Poison Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia, with expertise spanning public health, tobacco control, indoor air quality, toxicology, occupational health and safety, holistic inclusive education and small medium entrepreneurship (SMEs). With strong foundation in statistic, she applies advance analytical approaches-including structural equation modeling, survival analysis and spatial epidemiology to investigate complex health and environmental issues.

Her extensive research background covers tobacco control policies, illicit tobacco trade, e-cigarette use, smoke-free initiative and poison control. She has contributed to national and international project, policy evaluation surveys and collaborative studies producing impactful publication, reports and policy briefs. Her expertise also extends to program evaluation in education and sustainable development initiatives.

Ms. Noor Afiza offers integrated, evidence-based consultation and research insight for policymakers, academic institution, NGOs and health professionals. She has presented her work at international conference, authored peer-reviewed articles and received recognition such as the ITEX 2018 Silver Medal for the USM Tobacco Quitline System and the Excellent Service Award.
