Visit and Attachment Programme by Indonesia National Poison Centre Staff at PRN Malaysia

The National Poison Centre (PRN) Malaysia received a request for an attachment training programme from a staff member of the Indonesia National Poison Centre, aimed at observing the operations of a poison centre in Malaysia. The visiting staff was Dr. Tri Maharani, an Emergency Medicine Specialist from the Ministry of Health Indonesia. The programme took place from 3 to 7 February 2025.

The main objective of this programme was to provide exposure to the operations of PRN Malaysia and offer training related to Health Toxicology for staff of the newly established Poison Centre in Indonesia. The programme was conducted under the framework of the Integrated Health Toxicology Course (IHTOC). It also served as a platform for PRN Malaysia and PRN Indonesia to explore potential future collaborations.

The activities conducted during the programme included:

  • A professional knowledge-sharing session on PRN operations and administration
  • A consultation session on the development of a new Poison Centre with the founding Director of PRN Malaysia
  • Online learning sessions via the microcredential module
  • A discussion on the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Health Indonesia and Universiti Sains Malaysia
